# How to point your domain to your hosting account

To show your website at your domain, the domain must use our nameservers, or point to your hosting account's IP address.

## If your domain is registered with us

Domains registered together with a hosting plan are usually connected for you. If not, open the domain in your client area, choose **Nameservers** and enter the nameservers from your welcome email.

## If your domain is registered elsewhere

1. Log in to the company where you registered the domain.
2. Find the nameserver or DNS settings for the domain.
3. Replace the existing nameservers with the ones in your welcome email and save.

## How long does it take?

Nameserver changes usually work within a few hours, but can take up to 24 to 48 hours to reach every network worldwide. Your old website or a placeholder may show until then.
